Furniture Brands charity donates $130,000 to disaster relief
ST LOUIS — Furniture Brands International said its Charitable Trust will donate $130,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts in Missouri and Mississippi, which were hit by severe storms and tornadoes in late April.
The manufacturer is based here has five locations in Mississippi, where its Lane Furniture division is based.
The company designated $100,000 for recovery efforts in the Tupelo, Miss., area and $30,000 for the St. Louis area. More than 1,900 people are employed at the Mississippi locations and 200 are employed at FBI's headquarters in Clayton, Mo.
"Taking care of our communities where we work and where we live is very important to all of us at Furniture Brands," said CEO Ralph Scozzafava. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the families that have been impacted by these terrible storms and we wanted to help in any way we can with the recovery efforts."
